Ok second admission in a row as this movie wasn’t even on my list. I had Clerks twice but no Strike Back so I had to make a decision and this is the end result I just hope and pray that there are no other slips for the rest of the list. The honesty will continue with the scores from elsewhere not close enough to get onto the scoreboard with IMDb giving this (Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back) a lower score of 6.8/10 but if I thought this was bad then I should of looked at the Rotten Tomatoes score with a lowly 52%. So this movie is another from the View Askew universe of Kevin Smith with the one and only writing, directing, editing and starring in this movie. With the film title this movie has to star his partner in crime Jason Mewes. The other stars are Ben Affleck, Eliza Dushku, Shannon Elizabeth, Will Ferrell, Ali Larter, Jason Lee and Chris Rock. I also think this is the first time since the original star wars movies that Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher appeared on the same film together there is also an umpteen number of cameo’s in this movie. With Brian O’Halloran & Jennifer Schwalbach returning with others such as Matt Damon, Judd Nelson, George Carlin, Seann William Scott, Jon Stewart, Jules Asner, Steve Kmetko, Tracy Morgan, Gus Van Sant, Wes Craven, Shannen Doherty, Jason Biggs & James Van Der Beek. Released in 2001 and the realisation that this is 19 years old really makes me feel old. It was produced on a budget of $22m it went on to return $33.8m at the box-office which is squeaking a profit.

After getting a restraining order from Randal for selling drugs outside the Quick Stop they learn from Brodie Bruce that Bluntman & Chronic movie is being made and as its their likeness that they gave to Holden McNeil for the comics they go to visit him. He explains there is nothing to do with him so after reading bad reviews on the internet they decide the travel to Hollywood to prevent the movie from being made. They travel across the country and make friends with an animal liberation group (Justice, Sissy, Missy, Chrissy and Brent) the group is just a front and Brent is a patsy but after Jay & Silent Bob get shot of him the group then convince the duo to join them but they plan to use Jay & Bob as the replacement patsies. From the animal testing they rescue Suzanne an orangutan who turns the duo into a trio and now they are hunted down by a Federal Wildlife Marshal Willenholly. That should be enough of the story for you.

For me I saw most of this was in a graphic novel that I brought and then did not realise that this was going to be that comic almost in its entirety. Not that I am complaining as this was a funny movie. There are some great jokes in there and there are some very questionable scene’s as well which just makes it funnier. I remember being very shocked with the Scooby Doo scene because of the company I was with ok I was still laughing out loud but it was still so funny. With many of the Kevin Smith’s humour there are movie references galore and with his own movies doing so well he can reference them as well. It knows its comic book, sci-fi nerdy audience and it is still so funny. I am aware that I have said funny so many times in this paragraph but its true. The story goes from one hysterical scene to the next which is always the case with a travel movie as the boys are out to stop the movie from happening but I can say that it was so enjoyable and the end doesn’t live up to the rest of the film but I can forgive slightly more than most with a Kevin Smith film.
