Wow another comedy is that three is a row? More like five or six. That is not by design but sheer luck. This is an American version so assume the bods at Rotten Tomatoes would like it more. Released in 1998 this comedy has a list of funny actors including Cameron Diaz, Matt Dillon, Ben Stiller, Chris Elliott, Lee Evans, Lin Shaye, Jeffrey Tambor, Markie Post, Keith David, W. Earl Brown and Brett Favre as himself. The critics scoreboard won’t be getting a new entry as I sit in between IMDb’s 7.1/10 and Rotten Tomatoes do like comedies with a 83%. The budget for this one was $23m and it went onto make $369m at the box-office which is a resounding success. It has scenes well one in particular that has been copied and referred to in many other media’s which I will try not to dwell on.
OK the plot of this movie is about a girl so desirable that men are caught in her spell without even realising it. We follow her first love who was going to take her to her first prom. But (this tells you the level of this movie) he gets his penis and testicles caught in his zip. Which results in a hospital visit and the chance missed. He has never forgotten her and after growing up decides to hire a PI to find her for him. She is in Florida and egged on by his friend Dom Woganowski he ends up trying to head down to Florida to see if he could rekindle something. There are various issue and amusements on the way before they meet and he tries to worm himself back into her life. Which is just like every over male member of the cast who are trying to do exactly the same, so who is Mary going to choice as her true love?
Watch it and find out! I remember this movie as the video tape that broke my player back in the day and was stuck in the machine for years before I finally gave up an brought a DVD so I could throw the whole thing away along with the tape. This is a good movie and some things are close to the mark with this movie as well but still got high marks from tomatoes. I think the reason why they liked it is that the movie is American and has a famous football star put in an appearance and I love it because its got Lee Evans in there and he is being Lee Evans. Same American accent i.e. the only one he can do but the character is played to perfection same a Dom to be fair. The characters are what make it and the finale is also a great one with the surprise of… oops nearly gave it away. You just go enjoy for yourself.
