#165 - Ted – (77%)

I could be wrong but believe this is Seth MacFarlane’s first step into live actions movies. Well live except for the main character of Ted the Teddy bear. I even once described this movie as Flash Gordon 2 but shall we get back on track. Oh and on the subject of track I have ruined the scoreboard attempt by liking more than the other two who did in fact match with 6.9/10 from IMDb & 69% from Rotten Tomatoes. The movie stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Joel McHale, Giovanni Ribisi, Patrick Warburton, Sam J Jones, the voices of Seth MacFarlane & Patrick Stewart as the narrator. This had a budget of $50m and went on to make $549.4m at the box-office and its about time I get onto the plot.

This maybe very short one again as it tells the story of a boy who wishes his teddy bear was actually really real. And it came true. The Bear was launched into stardom but over time that famousness faded until the boy was a grown man living with a Ted and Ted had developed some distinctly adult traits. John and still the best of friends but now his girlfriends is starting to look for a commitment but the attachment to his bear will hold that back. That fundamentally is it. There is a stalker from Ted’s famous days that wants Ted for his own but that is about it.

The plot doesn’t make this film, the jokes do. From the creator of family guy and anyone who has seen that show will know the crude rude and close to the mark humour then expect more of the same here. There are scenes with drugs, hookers and sexual encounters. Do not expect anything less as the jokes slide down a scale till the gutter is reach and then just continues. Does this movie work? Hell Yeah this is funny raw and to the point in places but still makes me laugh. Why do the others not score it so much well I would guess because of the reasons mentioned above. IMDb is a prude and refuses to give anything a massively high score. Where this may have been a bit too rude for the critics of RT’s panel. Either way B*llocks to them go and enjoy like the irresponsible adults that you are.
