This 2006 animated American movie (well most of them are aren’t they) used its $80m budget to create this 1 hour and 23 minutes of fun, frolics, laughter and kids entertainment. It went on to make $340m so that many kids cannot be wrong can it. The critics won’t bother the scoreboard as I liked it much more than IMDb who gave it 6.7/10 & Rotten Tomatoes was much closer to me with a 75% score. This movie used the voices of Bruce Willis, Garry Shandling, Steve Carell, William Shatner, Wanda Sykes and Nick Nolte.

RJ is a racoon who is in the hunt for food, after failing to get snacks from a vending machine he becomes desperate that he tries to raid a large food bank belonging to Vincent a hibernating bear. He accidently wakes said bear who unsurprisingly becomes very angry with him, to stop him being eaten or beaten RJ promises that he will replace all the missing food by the time he wakes up. Elsewhere another group of animals lead by Verne a turtle is waking from hibernation to find that their food is also nearly empty, so start to forage for food In the group you have Hammy the hyper-squirrel, Stella (a skunk), Ozzie and his daughter Heather both possums, Lou a porcupine and his wife Penny and their three kids. Verne finds a housing estate blocking their route which scares Verne and as RJ is watching he has a plan. RJ convinces the group that getting food from human waste is easier than foraging which then puts the group into the direct line of fire of the community who have hired VermTech the exterminators. That’s enough of a background to give you the story. RJ is out to scam them out of food to pay off Vincent the people are not happy about the animals and are out to get them.

This movie has some very funny sequences, I fell in love with the Hammy Character and for many of his faults Bruce Willis’ voice definitely adds to a movie. His voice overs for this and Look Who’s Talking made those movies. This is funny and can be enjoyed by parents and kids alike. This is very much a kids movie there is no hiding that but it is one that can be tolerated by those who hate kids movie but for me it was not only that but enjoyable. I laugh out loud here and there it was good time.
