Another movie that I may struggle to remember the plot as I have definitely seen this one in comparison to the previous review. I am doing a personal countdown to a certain number which will mean not having to check plots of odd movies here and there which has happened a few times. I still need to check details relating to budgets and box office numbers and obviously check the two other critics score that I refer to. Which leads me neatly into being pleased to say that the Tri-Critic Sync Challenge has another entry onto the score sheet with this movie and as I gave a bit of a list in Spiderman and there’s not been any others until this one I won’t do a full update here but just explain that we have another 7% score added to that list. With the lowest of the three IMDb giving this one a 7/10 and Rotten Tomatoes a smidge more with 72% means we are all close but not close enough.

The movie was released in 2010 and I couldn’t of been looking at the time as I do not remember this movie at the cinema at all! It stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban, Mary-Louise Parker, Brian Cox, Julian McMahon and Richard Dreyfuss. It was produced on a budget of $58m it went on to make $1m shy of $200m which was enough of a success to make a sequel which is already on this list and been reviewed. It is close to two hours long which may explain why I watched this movie in sections rather than straight. This may say more about the busyness of my household than the film. To talk you through the plot may be difficult as its all spies and ex-spies and double crossing and trying to stay alive but I’ll give it my best shot.

Frank is a retired black-ops CIA agent who is alone in Cleveland. He makes excuses to keep speaking to an admin lady in the pensions department of Kansas City, he destroys the cheques and calls to chase them. One peaceful evening of retirement is gate-crashed by a special ops team there to kill him. Knowing that the team would of no doubt of tapped his phone he believes this girl could well be a target as well so escaping he heads to Kansas to save her. Sarah (the admin girl) refuses to go with him while the head of the CIA sends William Cooper an CIA agent to track down Frank and kill him. Frank desperate to keep Sarah safe just decides to kidnap her and takes her with him as he tracks down his former colleagues and associates to ask for help. They find more information from his former mentor in New Orleans whilst Agent Cooper and another agent tried to take Sarah and Frank chases them away and tricks the actual police to arrest Cooper. They track down Marvin who is a former agent and conspiracy theorist who tells them about the list of people based on a secret mission back in 1981. They head to New York and I think you get the idea. Frank and Sarah travel gathering more information about why the CIA would want Frank dead to be able to shut down the agents trying to kill them, all whilst agents and the special agent are hot on their tails. That should be enough for you.

I gave this a genuine score for the movie as I enjoyed this comedy. YES! it is a comedy I know I haven’t mentioned it before but it is. It is also very clever and very far fetched when many aspects of the action sequences which just makes it funnier. It is good and enjoyable and does muscle in on the yes I would suggest giving it a go list.
