I think this may be classed as another movie that slipped through the net as I think I was thinking of a different movie when in fact I was scoring this one. I am definitely not 77% in love with this movie after checking the details I am starting to think I was thinking of a different movie. Backed up by a low 5.9 score from IMDb and an even lower 36% by Rotten Tomatoes. Released in 2003 this sequel set up a multiple of movies to follow and then had spin offs from the original. This movie stars Paul Walker, Tyrese, Eva Mendes, Cole Hauser, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, and James Remar. It was produced on a budget of $76m and went on to make $236.3m at the box office. I feel a really short plot coming here.
The main character from the first movie Brian O’Conner allowed the main target to escape at the end of the last movie and has gone on the run from the law himself. He is in Florida making money by illegally racing cars in streets. The feds catch up with him and explain that they want him to work under cover to bring in an Argentinian drug’s barren, in exchange of a pardon. He agrees with the proviso that a friend comes along and gets a pardon after he has already served time for which he blames Brian for. So, they team up together and have to go through a test to get on the team for the next job to make this evil man even richer. They get the job and then learn that the two ogre’s that protect the bad man is assigned to be in the cars with them and they are going to kill them once the job is done. How are they going to get out this position with their lives? How?
I don’t know because I do remember this movie and this shouldn’t be on my list as I have never or cannot remember the end. I think on more than two occasions I have watched this movie and I think on all occasions I have not seen the end and that is not because of me getting bored but because of external issues where the end was snatched away. For the rest of the movie I did actually enjoy it! I am sorry that it took a bit of time for the penny to drop and for this type of movie that normally gives me little interest. I did get drawn into this one, so I would pitch it higher than the other two critics but maybe not into the ranks that I had done. It is a good movie and clever enough to keep you interested in, but then again not enough to warrant going back to finish the story at another time.
