Released in 2012 this animated movie stars Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade & CeeLo Green. It was produced on a budget of $85m and went on to make $358.4m at the box office which for a kids movie is fantastic. It must have been well like with rave reviews to entice more and more people to the cinema to see it. In other news I don’t need to check the Tri Critic Challenge as it isn’t close well me and IMDb are as they gave it 7.1/10 and it is clearly not a Disney movie as Rotten Tomatoes gave it 44% which personally is harsh, they clearly not a big Sony Pictures fans. I shall leap into the plot of this animation.
This is a story of Dracula who in 1895 after the death of his wife due to an angry mob hunting her down Dracula decides to set up a hotel. A 5-Star monsters only Hotel in Transylvania where monsters can come and stay safe away from the persecution of humans. It also means he can bring up his daughter Mavis in the same place safe from human interference. Leaping to the modern day the hotel is still a success and many monsters return there for holidays and they are about to celebrate Mavis’ birthday (118th) Dracula allows his daughter to leave this world and visit the human world. He has set up a whole village where he pays zombies to play humans and attack her to put her off from visiting the human world again. The Zombies inadvertently lead a human 21 year old back to the hotel and to prevent causing a panic at the hotel Dracula (or Drac) disguises him as a Frankensteinesque monster. The young man is called Johnathon and he soon runs into Mavis and there is an instant connection. This can only cause more problems for Drac. How is he going to keep John safe and the monsters safe from John and keep this all a secret from his daughter when they are clearly falling in love. That is enough plot for you.
This is a great movie it has that Simpson trick of being entertaining for kids and adults alike. Not quite as good as the Simpsons but this film will keep you grown ups entertain whilst your kids are entertained by the colour, joke’s and slapstick of the story. This is a funny entertaining and most importantly enjoyable movie. It was so successful that they went on to make at least two more movies that I am aware of. Would I recommend that you watch this movie. Whether you are coming from, I would really suggest that you go and watch this movie as you won’t be that disappointed.
