OK I am going to start this review with a warning of spoilers in the third paragraph I will warn you with some ** marks. You have been warned!! This movie was released in 2005 a year after the original movie it stars Donnie Wahlberg, Franky G, Glenn Plummer, Beverley Mitchell, Dina Meyer, Emmanuelle Vaugier, Erik Knudsen, Shawnee Smith & Tobin Bell. Made on a budget of just $4m it went on the gross $147.7m which is huge return on their money to say the least. It was not that well received from a critic’s point of view I gave it the highest score of the normal three with next on the list 6.6/10 from IMDb and a meagre 37% from Rotten Tomatoes.

The plot for this one is that jigsaw is still capturing people and forcing them to do unthinking things to escape with their lives. He captures many people and puts them in a house, injected with a poison they have been told that the antidote is someone within the house. At one of the trap scenes Detective Alison Kerry finds a message for her former partner Detective Eric Matthews. Not wanting to go but Eric joins the other detectives and lead a swat team to a factory where they capture John Kramer the jigsaw killer who indicates them to look at the computer monitors where they see all eight people trapped in the house. Included in the mix bag of people in the house is one of his former victims, various arseholes from society and Eric’s son. Desperate to rescue his son, Eric threatens Kramer to tell him where he is. Whilst the other police officers say to keep him talking whilst they trace the signal all Kramer wants is to speak to Eric and he promised to deliver his son safely back to him. Just stay calm and chat to him whilst his colleagues trace the video link just don’t lose your call and try and beat the crap out of him to get him to tell you where he is. That’s all you have to do, but as you sit watching your son going through literally hell makes it one hell of a challenge for Eric to keep. Will he hold out?

This is a good movie and a worthy follow up to the original movie, this was never going to be as good as the original. The first movie was clever, creative, scary, spooky, gory, blood thirsty and entertaining. Follow that is a hard command to do and this is a valiant effect although not anywhere as good. OK Spoiler alert for the saw movies **I lost track of how many Saw movies there are as I checked out after the third one. When Jigsaw died then that was enough the story had run its course and there was no need to try and bring him back again and again and have other people pretend to be him or any of that business. I had enough by then**

Ok!! I have left a gap after the spoiler to continue, when I can outsmart a movie then it feels a little less grand in my mind and after being played like the dumb fool that I am and when it changed direction, I never saw it coming. Let alone when it changed direction again and again, I was left beaten and broken by that movie. Like a good crossword you get into the psyche of the creator and then you are in the game. Well remembering the first one I watched the second and was way ahead of the game. I worked out the plot and low and behold I was right and yes it was clever but I bested it which meant the score for this one was lower than the first and not as good as it could have been. There are some nasty scenes in this and helped the saw franchise go off in the gory rather than clever direction which is not what made the first one so great but movie makers couldn’t see that and took it off to the gore direction and gore on it own doesn’t make a great movie. Sorry I digress, this is a good and clever movie but not as good as the first. Still worth a watch if you liked the first this is definitely worth a go.
