#207 - Cars – (75%)

This is a weird list as I go from a movie where someone stabs someone in the… oh maybe not the place to reference that but I go from a horrific movie in places to a great kid’s movie. Released in 2006 this Pixar/Disney movie and its one of the good one’s it stars the voices of Dan Fogelman, John Lasseter, Joe Ranft, Kiel Murray, Phil Lorin & Jorgen Klubien. This movie has a special place in the list as this cartoon joins the equal best scores on the Tri-Critic Sync Challenge with a 4% coverage of all three of us and that only because IMDb gave it a 7.1/10 which was the only difference as both me and Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie a 75%. This was produced on a budget of $120m it went on to make a whopping $462m at the box-office this was a success whichever way you look at it.

To the plot batman!! And no, I have no idea why I just wrote that! The world is full as cars who not only have a human demeaner but are actually the people of this world. The vehicles used to do a job are actually those characters. In this world the Nascars are racing for the piston cup and the last race of the season means there is a three-way tie. With a legend of the race, bitter and twisted often runner up and a brash rookie sensation called Lightning McQueen. I am trying to remember the movie with Michael J Fox I think its Doc Hollywood well this movie is the cartoon version. As the brash Rookie sleeps in the back of the truck driving to the extra three-way race to decide the championship. The truck nearly falls asleep but jolts awake throwing McQueen out the back. He chases the truck to get back onboard but ends up in a sleepy town which he accidently rips up the newly tarmacked high-street. He appears at court the next morning and the lawyer demands that he repairs the road he destroyed. So, he has to pull this massive tarmac machine whilst desperately trying to get back to the big event and win. Whilst stuck in this sleepy town on route 66 he discovers the beauty of the town and starts to fall in love with it, but how will he get to the big race in time or will he give it all up to stay in this town.

This is a great kids movie and swept through this country like a spilled drink sweeping across the table. There were Lightning McQueen cars, cups, mugs, toothbrushes, towels, straws, hats, t-shirts, all clothes in general, video games, board games, car games, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera THIS MOVIE WAS EVERYWHERE!!! Does that make it a bad movie? Hell no its still a great movie to watch with the kids and there are part of that made me laugh and you can actually relate to these animated cars and you can really see where each character is coming from and why they are acting or behaving in a particular way. For those with young boys in their lives, here’s a tip go watch this movie with them. If you have a girl – Do the same you will enjoy it as much as they do too. Enjoy
