Here is another animation that I went to the cinema to see and I will enlighten you on that on a bit later. I will dive straight in the Tri-Critic Sync Challenge as again it is ruined by one of the three and it wasn’t me. I gave it the lowest score of the three before IMDb gave it a 7.7/10 IMDb and finally a whopping 87% from Rotten Tomatoes, is this a Disney movie? Oh, it is! Am I seeing a trend here (yes, yes, I am)? Released in 2012, this animated movie it stars the voices of John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer & Jane Lynch. Shall we move swiftly onto the plot.

This is a computer game movie and based in an old-style arcade where just like Toy Story on a game come to life when the arcade closes for the night. When the games come to life they can travel to other games via the cables and electronic connections. One particular game is called Fix-it Felix Jr where the villain of the game is Wreck-it Ralph and when the lights go out the characters in the game go into the flat where they have parties and are good friends and sleep in comfy beds. Ralph on the other hand as the villain has to sleep on bricks as he gets dumped there when players win the game. Whenever he sees other members of the game, they treat him as the villain and not just a character in the game. Felix gets given awards for winning the game in an attempt to gain his fellow characters respect by winning a medal so decided to go to other games to win one. The risk is that in other games if you die there you don’t regenerate you die there for good. Ralph in an attempt to win a medal decided to travel through other games and cause havoc where-ever he goes. He travels to a car racing game that is based around a sweet and candy world where there is a character that is frozen out (called Vanellope) by the other characters just like Ralph she needs a medal to be allowed to race in the game. Until she wins one, she remains frozen out. Logically they team up and work together. The leader of the Candy world the king is very keen for Vanellope not to enter the race in the first place as he assumes if she races full stop it will kill the game completely. That leads us into the plot nicely without giving away any spoilers really.

OK so I went to the cinema to watch this movie with my son who was keen to watch it. What I was expecting or hoping for I didn’t get I was hoping for a games retro movie making fun at the old games and there was one scene and I didn’t laugh whilst it was on. I did laugh out loud watching movie and it was once, just once. I remember this as I realised half way through that I hadn’t laughed that much so I was conscience of it and then noticed that I didn’t laugh thereafter. So why did I give this movie a 75% after only laughing just the once during my first watch. I am not sure but I believe it is because I have mellowed to this movie over time. My son who I went with to see it first time and he loved this movie. It was brought probably for him and has been played over and over. I think I realised that this movie was not about reminiscing about the games but the character within the movie and the kids love them. They are good and this movie is not anywhere as bad as I may have eluded too as this is a kid’s movie and kids like it. It was never made for me and I am not holding that against it. I could point out it’s a Disney movie who don’t like making movies for certain groups of the public. There we go all done here you can go and enjoy it.
