This is a marvel movie so I don’t own this one. I have not seen this all the way through in one go yet so I am not convinced this is going to be a fair review. Added to that argument is the Tri-Critic Sync Challenge as my score is the lowest with 8/10 from IMDb being the middle ground between me and the 85% from Rotten Tomatoes. With all bias possible I commence… Release just 4 years ago in 2016 it stars Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano and Brianna Hildebrand. This is another Marvel superhero movie that was basically a copy of Deathstroke the terminator a DC character created 10 years before Deadpool. Which in turn was a copy of another character from 10 years prior to that and so the circle of life continues. Well Marvel have the movie deal and DC keep churning out epic-ley dull movies then Marvel will keep on winning the epic superhero war. I don’t want to get into the middle of that battle to be fair as the two superheroes when I was growing up was Batman and Spiderman and each sit on the other side of the fence. There was Judge Dredd but there was room for him in that sentence. Sorry I digress… released in 2016 and made with a budget of $58m it went on to be a success at the box office with a return of $782.6m which is massive in anyone’s perception. This character is simply loved by everyone I speak to the sarcastic comments the fact he keeps coming back and has no interest in being a superhero just doing what he wants seems to have the charisma that people love. Shall I give you the plot now? OK let’s do it.
Wade Wilson is well was a special forces operative who was dishonourably discharged and turned his hand to being a mercenary and meets Vanessa a prostitute. Wade and Vanessa have a relationship going well and Wade proposes to Vanessa and she accepts. Before the big day he is diagnosed with terminal cancer and decides its better to leave her so she doesn’t have to see him die. A recruiter approaches Wade and offers an experimental cure for his cancer. He goes off and meets Ajax and Angel Dust who inject him with this serum. The serum awakens a mutant gene within him and he is left in torture and agony for days after a falling out Ajax leaves Wade in a hyperbaric chamber which takes him to verge of death over an entire weekend. This finally activates the superhuman healing ability that not only cures Wade of his cancer but leaves him disfigured like burns (ala Freddy Kruger) he loses it and goes after Ajax, but he escapes so Wade decides to turn vigilante and don’s a superhero suit and mask and goes after Ajax for a cure.
There you go that’s enough plot to get your teeth into or anything else for that matter.
So, this summary will be a short one as there isn’t much to add to my first paragraph as I enjoyed this movie. I liked the character of Deadpool and how it is played and the humour. A movie that can grip you and make you laugh out loud must be good so go and enjoy it and more than me.
