Another comedy follows hot on the heels of Mousehunt, no strike that reverse it! As I have this listed higher up the list than the previous (even with the same score). My opinion is that the Look Who’s trilogy went down in quality with each one so you know the first movie is still yet to come on this list. Meaning this 1990 was the second movie in what was to become a trilogy. The middle movie was released a year after the first movie, it stars John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, Bruce Willis, Roseanne Barr, Damon Wayans, Olympia Dukakis and Elias Koteas either on screen or providing the voices of the kids. Which is maybe where this movie failed with is that in the initial movie Mikey was a baby and not trying to speak. He has a younger sister that has effectively taken over his role in the movie but he is trying to speak here and his lips are moving. Which may explain why my score is the highest of the three with IMDb giving it 4.7/10 and Rotten Tomatoes with a very mean 13%.
The story is basically the continuing the lives of the characters from the first movie. James and Mollie are married and expecting another child (James’ first). Which they are all preparing for. Mikey is being potty trained and is terrified of the toilet and then his younger sister arrives and goes into the what the hell role that he had in the last movie. Being confused by everything and then the sibling rivalry begins and the jealously between the two also. There life continues with jokes and amusing stories along the way. James younger brother arrives who is unreliable and brought in purely for the cliff-hanger ending for you added thrills.
For me I like this movie and I think it’s a case of me enjoying this movie because of my love of the characters that were set up in the first movie. This is no where as good as the first movie but it does have its moments. I enjoyed the film and would recommend it but would suggest watching the first movie before you do. This will help the love for this movie. It was just nice to see the familiar faces back in a new story. I am starting to feel that this may be a high score based on nostalgia but its my choice so you are just going to have to live with it.
