This is a Disney movie and it is sending up Disney movies so that is a contradiction right there. It is a 2007 movie releases first in the UK and then the States a month later in November. It had a sizeable budget of $85m but went on to gross $340.5m at the box-office and I am not going to give you the huge plot thing like I just did with previous movie about a fish!
The plot revolves around a fairy tale couple being transported into the modern day. With your typical fairy princess who wants to burst into song every ten minutes and loves everything she sees. Expecting the animals to help her wash up for example. Whilst the male lead is wandering around New Year with a sword challenging people to duels and looking to rescue damsels whilst searching for his true love. The princess who loves everything, they were sent there by the evil witch queen who seeing as this trip hasn’t finish them off, she is going to come into this new modern world herself to finish off the job.
This was a hit and it was loved in this household as well. Is it a personal favourite of mine? Well no, no it isn’t, but I can fully understand why my daughter loved it and why it was so popular around the world. It is a very typical cute and fluffy Disney movie which makes fun of itself and many of the Disney movies out there but it does so with good humour and without taking itself seriously as well. You can spend a fun evening with this movie.
