Further to my comments before - this is a movie, I gave a score to, then thought I may not have scored this one correctly and then try to convinced myself that it deserves it, but I will justify my score a bit later after I give you a brief overview and plot. This film was panned by the critics and was disliked by all with the usual gauges being IMDb giving it 6/10 and Rotten Tomato’s gave it 36% which is half of my score right there.

This is a CGI animated movie set in the ocean and follows the main character a cleaner fish called Oscar who dreams of fame and fortune but works at a whale wash. He is in debt to the mob and his friend offers him a pearl to pawn which he does and heads to the track with it, to pay his debt. He overhears that the next race is rigged and so bets on the rigged seahorse. It falls over and he is skint again with the debt due. Another mob have a problem of their own with one of the shark members of the gang called Lenny who is a vegetarian and refuses to act as a killer gang. He wants out and an easier less violent life. He and another shark see Oscar being beaten by two gang members over his debt. Frankie the other shark tells Lenny that he should eat Oscar. Rather than eat him Lenny saved him and Frankie rushes to attack them both before he reaches them an anchor drops on his head killing him. Lenny see this as his chance to leave whilst without witnesses Oscar takes to opportunity to take credit for the killing and becomes a hero shark killing cleaner fish. The new Sharkslayer (Oscar) is becoming famous but his secret is getting out so Oscar agrees to hide Lenny if they both take part in a charade of Lenny attacking the town and Oscar saving them. With a mob looking for each of them and a bluff that is about to be called when the rest of Lenny’s mob comes a calling. How is all this going to end.

I think that is enough of the carrot to dangle to get you interested the film has been hated by many people as mentioned before the ratings were not great. I enjoyed the film and so did many other people as well. It starred the voices of Will Smith, Robert De Niro, Renée Zellweger, Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, and Martin Scorsese (which may well be his only voice role ever), with secondary characters voiced by Ziggy Marley, Doug E. Doug, Michael Imperioli, Vincent Pastore, Peter Falk, and Katie Couric. This had a budget of $75m and it went of to make $367m at the box-office so someone must have liked it. My kids loved it and I think a one stage we had two or three copies in the house so it was a real grower in this household the kids enjoyed it and it is an exciting romp. What others didn’t like I couldn’t tell you but each to their own.
