I may not need to do a full plot run through in this review as if you do not know the Lewis Carrol story of Alice chasing a white rabbit into a burrow and coming out in Wonderland then I shall call you a Philistine!! There was an invention many years ago called a book. People then worked out how to mass print those things and someone called Lewis Carrol wrote some stories that were put into print. He wrote a story called Alice in Wonderland now spend some time to go and read the book before watching any other movie. REALLY!! Go on go I’ll wait.

OK I’m bored now so when you’ve decided to return these words will be here waiting for you. OK so I now don’t need to go through the plot as this is probably one that actually followed the book (to a certain degree) it does list Lewis Carrol as the writer, with some other bloke called Peter Barnes as the telewriter. This film was made for Television so there is no box office figure to quote to you. Do you still want the tomato and the letters score on this one?? ok 33% and 6.3/10 respectively. I for enjoyed this version there was a lot of stars in it I spent half the time following the story and the rest going oh that’s so and so and who’s that where do I know them from. Talking of names this film had Tina Majorino, Miranda Richardson, Martin Short, Whoopi Goldberg, Simon Russell Beale, Robbie Coltrane, Ken Dodd, Heathcote Williams, Gene Wilder, George Wendt, Christopher Lloyd, Peter Ustinov, Ben Kingsley, Elizabeth Spriggs, Pete Postlethwaite and Liz Smith. Plus, others that are not listed here. It was smorgasbord of names and each one trying to outshine the other just made this a great little movie that because of the television element (in the states) it fell between the cracks over here and no one raved about it and it’s not going to be a the top of any favourite lists and to be fair it’s probably not the best adaptation of the story out there but I like it.
