It’s cartoon time in my list again with two movies on the bounce and I am saying Scream 3 is a cartoon so you may have a hint to the next movie. However, we will take things one at a time and first we have Robots a 2005 movie starring the voices of Ewan McGregor and produced by Jerry Davis (sadly not the one I knew but I always like the reference to my old friend – Have some of that!).

Sorry I digress again, also the voices of Halle Berry, Greg Kinnear, Mel Brooks,

Amanda Bynes, Drew Carey & last and definitely not least - Robin Williams. This film was close to a $200m success grossing $260,700,000 from a budget of $75,000,000. With some legendary names mentioned about there it was an enjoyable movie. A kids movie that doesn’t go on for 2 hours, some people had learned. It hits exactly an hour and half of excitement mayhem and humour to enjoy for kids and some adults as well.

The plot is that even being in a world made up entirely of mechanical beings Rodney Copperbottom is still seen as a genius inventor. He has two dreams to make this world a better place and to meet Bigweld the best of best of inventors. The villain of the piece is the nasty and evil Ratchet and Gasket who does battle with Rodney and his assembled ramble of bots called the Rusties. The evil pair are working on a design of super mega sweepers designed to kill off the older outmodes and replace them with better robots. The all superior Bigwell is the boss of Ratchet who has some plans of taking over the business in due course anyway.

There are many chases and jokes along this ride, and the movie is paced well for kids and all the big names play up to their billing and provide the perfect assistance to the animation and sorry to say pretty much the same again it’s a good film and great for kids as long they buy into the characters early enough in the film then this movie will keep them for the remaining of this fast paced story. Not the best animated movie out there but this is a good shot at the title even if fell short. Hire a kid if you need an excuse to watch this!
