Do I need to mention that this is the third movie in the series? REALLY!!! OK this is the third movie in the scream franchise. Starring David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Patrick Dempsey, Scott Foley, Lance Henriksen, Matt Keeslar, Jenny McCarthy, Emily Mortimer, Parker Posey, Deon Richmond, and Patrick Warburton. It was released in 2000 it was a $160m hit at the box office but to be honest I had seen the first two movies and was uninterested by the time this came out in the cinema.
This is set in the making of a new movie based on the events of the previous movie and bring many of the surviving cast back for the third instalment. This was always intended to be the final instalment making this a trilogy and in a trilogy all bets are off. Anyone could get killed and the mysterious could be anyone.
This movie is full of the scares, murders, chases and death and mayhem of the previous two the only slightly jaded but the storyline. It felt like they knew they had milked the cash cow dry and wanted to give it just one more trip to the pasture to chew the cud and see if the milk has gone sour. Well the box office said yes the critics said otherwise and waiting for it to be released on the small screen I have read and heard all the review so I didn’t bother with this movie at all and don’t rate it against the first two in any way shape or form.
I will ask the question before you get to it. Why is this an ‘owned’ DVD and rated where the other two are not owned and would have been rated higher than this! Well I can answer that in four words and then explain afterwards. Those four words are – Jay and Silent Bob.
The explanation is that I brought this movie for their cameo only the film is alright and not as bad as some critics may make out but a shining light like the first movie this is not.
