#339 - Lost Boys 2: The Tribe - (71%)

OK you are about to experience two sentences that may come as a surprise to you. Are you ready? Because here’s the first one - They actually made a Lost Boys 2 movie. How shocking is that!?!? Some more details are that it was released in 2008 and not quite so surprising went ‘straight to video’. It starred some of people of note and many that I hadn’t heard of. Star was Tad Hilgenbrink… erm nope sorry! Angus Sutherland who is the half-brother of Kiefer Sutherland. Autumn Reeser… erm no, I don’t think I know them. Corey Feldman AHA someone I know he played Edgar Frog in the Lost boys so who did he play in this movie? Oh its Edgar Frog!!! Gabrielle Rose who was also in ‘The Ferret Squad’. That’s enough of this mocking let’s get into the plot, followed by the second sentence followed by my opinion.

The basic plot is that former surfer Chris Emerson (Tad) and his sister Nicole (Autumn) decide to be as cost effective as possible by moving to Luna Bay (YES LUNA BAY – Get over it!) to start a new life and move in with their Aunt Jillian (Gabrielle) who actually charges them rent for a wrecked house. So, Chris looks for a job as a surf board shaper to be able to pay for the surprise costs. Whilst in town he meets another former surfer Shane Powers! (he needs his own theme tune with a name like that, for just entering a room!). There’s a surf party that evening and Chris is asked to tag along. They go in search of another board shaper and vampire slayer Edgar Frog who lives in a trailer. As he needs a job Chris leaves a message and they both head off to the surf party that evening. As you do when you penniless, Nicole shares a drink with Shane and ends up staying with him. Later she discovered that she is now a half vampire and Edgar who got the message explains that she must have drunk the blood of a vampire and now must kill the head vampire before she feeds for the first time. Chris teams up with Edgar to search for Shane’s Lair to try and save Nicole.

This is a pretty good film; I actually quite enjoyed it and would recommend you at least give it a try. Side note remember the order explained earlier on in this review. This could all be down to expectation levels as I was expecting a dumpster fire when purchasing the double feature for exactly the same price as Lost Boys on its own. Sie by side in the DVD shop. I watched it with a mahooosive Lost Boys fan and we both feared the worse but we got something so much better. It was good it was honest!! Now I can’t hype this too much as it will raise the expectation levels and you’ll be disappointed and come back and blame me. As my daughter explained to me this is the type of film you watch once enjoy it and then not watch it again for a few years as if you watch it too much you may realise how bad it actually is. I thought I’d check rotten tomatoes score and it got an unrated… no one has bothered reviewing it so onto IMDb and there was a score!!!! 4.5 out of 10. But what do they know? Possibly more than me but I don’t care this is my chance and I am taking it!!
