This is a 2003 Eddie Murphy film with his usual comedy elements but this time he is being funny in a Haunted Mansion. This is a supernatural story of a spooky and scary story aimed at the younger viewer.
The run of the mill plot revolves around Eddie and his wife being realtors who have two kids. They have ploughed their lives into the business and Eddie more than anyone is always on the job. They are planning to finally take a family vacation and are heading to a lake. Mrs Eddie takes a phone call from an occupant of a Manor in the Bayou of Louisiana. Seizing another great business deal he manages to talk his family into all going to this mansion we the attempt to seal the deal to be the agent for the property.
The owner of the mansion has other ideas as his wife (a la Dracula) is the spitting or reincarnation of the woman loved by the former owner of the house and his spirit is pulling the strings in an attempt to rekindle its love. The roads are cut off by a rather convenient flood so the whole family has to stay the night. Well as soon as the night comes various ghost ghoulies and I have to say scary for my kid’s things come out to scare the family.
This is an Ok movie as every single one in this section would be as I mentioned it is aimed at young viewers but some of the scares would be a bit too much for some of the younger viewers. For me as an adult it’s a fair plot of screams and laughs which kept the kids entertained and then awake for the night as well.
