This is a 2016 sequel to Tim Burton’s 2010 Alice In Wonderland movie. Which like this movie uses the characters from Lewis Carroll’s classic novels but little else. Tim Burton takes the story into a completely different direction and like so many other adaptations of Alice In Wonderland as a host of stars throughout the cast including Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska, Matt Lucas, Rhys Ifans, Helena Bonham Carter, and Sacha Baron Cohen and features the voices of Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen, Timothy Spall, and with a sadness in me as it was Alan Rickman final film role.
This is a time travelling movie after Time (played by Sacha) says you cannot change time Alice steals the Chronosphere and travels back in time to try and fix life’s current problems. In her absence her father’s business has been taken over and the Mad Hatters family has gone missing. The red queen played by Helena (of course it’s a Tim Burton Movie) orders time to give chase of Alice. Alice has accidently time travelled to the Red Queens coronation. Who has the Mad Hatter taking the piss out of the size of her head and she (will always) throw a tantrum and her head grows bigger. Seeing this her dad says is not a worthy queen and gives the crown to her sister the White Queen (Anne). Alice travels through time some more and tries to fix the Red Queens personality and stop the Jabberwocky from killing Hatters family. Ignoring time’s liner progression Alice set off to fix everything. Will she succeed?
Who knows? (It’s a Disney film so DUH! -that from Lauren) I certainly don’t as I’ve never seen this movie. Well that or I am simply not going to tell you here. I do like Tim Burton’s movies on the whole and love his dark and twisted humour and this is another weird and wonderful movie to roll off his production line. Although not as good as his first trip into Lewis Carroll’s world this is still enjoyable enough to have an outing into the DVD player every so often when I am begged by the daughter.
