#354 - Donnie Darko - (70%)

Ok this is a 70% scored movie released in 2001 and didn’t set off any fireworks in the box office and had an extremely low budget. Is that enough of a review of this one? as trying to cover the plot without spoilers or admitting that I didn’t actually have a freaking clue what was going on in this movie. Basically, Donnie goes to bed on October 2 1988 and sleepwalks out of his home and meets a 6-foot man like rabbit who tells him he will die in 28 days and some hours and minutes and seconds and tings. Donnie wakes at a golf course and comes home to find a plane’s engine has fallen from a plan and landed on his bedroom. The FAA investigation team had told his sister that they didn’t know of the engine’s origin.

Donnie then goes through the rest of the film having visits from the rabbit and his parents becoming concerned that he is becoming distant from real life and send his to a psychiatrist as Frank (the giant rabbit) is having move of an influence on his day to day life. More and more strange things happen as the movie slowly counts down the 28 days until the end of the movie. That was it, there you go that is all you are having without the need to go and watch it yourself you can then come back and try and explain it to me!!

This film is weird enough for me to enjoy and all joking aside this is a movie that you may need to watch twice to fully appreciate it. I am reminded of fight club and if you do work this out before the end of the film could completely ruin it for you, but this film does challenge you to try and work out what is going on. Once you have it you have it and that’s it done. Never to be watched again.
