At 65% I think this is the wrong score for this dumpster fire of a film. There were many elements that I not just endured but I actually enjoyed but there were too many chunks of this film that just left me pining for the original three movies to come back again.
Well this is the fifth movie in the chucky story and was release in 2004 following on from the Bride Of Chucky this one is about Chucky & Tiffany’s child who is living in England and being forced to be a ventriloquists dummy. He has dreams about killing people that leaves him terrified and seeing his parents on TV as they are shooting a new chucky movie he suddenly realises that they are his parents. So he makes his escape and heads to America in search of Hollywood and the new Chucky movie. He revives both his parents and as soon as Chucky & Bride back alive you can guess what happens next. Well that’s not strictly true as their Son has a moral high ground when it comes to killing people and tells them it is wrong. Tiff being a first time mum agrees and tells Chucky not to kill anyone just like terminator 2. Well the boy witnesses the death of someone and Chucky believes he did it so is very proud and assumes all bets are off, so the killing spree begins again.
There was so many points of this movie I didn’t like it has Jennifer Tilly in it and also has Jennifer Tilly doing the voice over for the Bride of Chucky – Tiffany. Which for the thicko here left me slightly confused and I just don’t think it really worked. They seem to accept that Chucky isn’t scary anymore so lets make him funny. Well the first three films WERE funny and they were scary and full of jump scares and were clever and intelligent and were a great scary romp. It just feels like they ran out of steam for this film but just ran with it anyway. I love Chucky for a joke spewing killer psycho doll he is the best of the best not that I can think of any other but I just didn’t enjoy this movie. I assume there will be people out there that may hate me for this but this one just didn’t work for me. The additional of the son just doesn’t add to the dynamic and the addition of a wife as competition for the kill’s score just does not do it for me. I enjoy the killer doll stories even when acting or special effects may of let it down it was still an adventure that I could get drawn into this story left me on the outside and to be completely honest I didn’t mind being left out of it either.
