#392 - Halloween Resurrection - (54%)

Writer's picture: MyersMyers

I will begin by fessing up to being a huge Halloween (1978) fan, it has to one of my favourite films ever and I have loved many of the subsequent Halloween movies to a certain extent but this 2002 effort has brought out the worst score of any of those that I own and I am pretty sure I have them all. Maybe not the second Rob Zombie movie but I digress. The sliding scale of original down to the sequels is a slow decent in quality as well as each one becomes a little worse than the next. I did not enjoy the H20 movie as I am of the opinion that once a story has run its course it should be left. I will allow spin off’s in some cases, there have been some great examples of this but I did not enjoy the random fact that Laurie was gone for four movies, only to suddenly appear back in the 20th anniversary movie. This movie is to finally kill her off for real and it happens really early in the piece. So, it sets up the opportunity to move the story on and this takes the shape of every other movie coming out around this time. So rather than set the trend this movie decides to follow suit instead. And are you ready for this reality tv style plot line? They have rigged up camera’s in all the rooms of the old Myers house. They then let some youngster who have ‘won’ the opportunity to stay in the house on Halloween night so they have the opportunity to win a prize for being the last one standing. Well guess what Michael arrives back and the slasher movie is returned. This awful plot is matched with equally bad acting and storyline. I have to say this is the worse movie in the group and doesn’t stand up to any other movie even its crappy predecessor. My advice is to miss out on this little gem.
