High School Musical 3 (47%) -

The third movie in what at the time was a trilogy this could easily spun into 4, 5 or 6 but I for one have/had no interest in these at all. This one was released a year after the second movie making it a trend. We caught up with this a few years later than its 2008 release date. The reason for a 50% score as these were some of the few movies that my daughter loved that I could put up with. These movies are bland and teenage girl targeted enough for a dad (i.e. me) to be in the same room as this movie and potter about doing over stuff and yet is easy enough story to follow and pay fake attention to when you little girl is oozing with excitement that you can fan those flames with little effort. They are scored on a sliding scale from the first one down to this one. 1 point per year and that is only because I love original ideas and movies and lose interest when the movie men keep milking the cow with the same thing in a different setting. Believe me this movie would never see the screen if home alone and to be fair my daughter has outgrown them as well but they are in the log so I feel compelled to add my notes for it.

They live in a world where they can burst into song over anything and apparently young girls believe this to be true. From trailing in the big basketball game to rally the team to victory to having a conversation about which college to choose, these guys will sing about anything. The trilogy will remain a High School that burst into song musical and for its time it was ok and for a parent’s point of view it can be on in the same room whilst you do other things. This review could be repeated for the second or first movies as well but we will have to wait and see.

High School Musical 2 (48%)

Please see the review for High School Musical 3 as many of the points are exactly the same there I did copy and paste them here but thought that was cheating so I will write another one just saying read that review if you want this one. This movie was released in 2007 a year after the superior first movie so many of the actors were still involved in this next project and if the grey matter is working this one revolves around the end of the school year and a singing or some kind of talent competition and the group breaks up and make up throughout the story. It seems to depend on who is there at the time and who they think will perform the best at the show. This typical teenage American girl’s show which ends with them all loving each other and the horrible one see’s the error of her ways and they all sing happily ever after. If I am honest with myself these copies could be going to a charity shop at any point!

High School Musical (47%)

The first movie and the last of my trilogy review for these movies. The first movie was release back in 2006 and it feels like it was on my TV for many years thereafter but thinking about it and being honest they probably weren’t on as much as I thought. My daughter loved these movies and although she has now grown out of them but she loved them and this was a typical version with the kids bursting into song randomly. She would have been late into these movies but once she found them probably from the Disney Channel, I won’t start on the Disney subject here. I have honoured my plan of scoring each one point lower with each new release so this has the highest score. If you want a proper review of these three movies start with the third then two and finish with this one. The first movie is another teen girlie movie which is not so bad for a dad having to have it on in the same room you are no doubt doing something else (a lot more interesting). Phone apps at the time had some great games. OK to be honest this movie scored a high forty’s score because it was just about bearable.
