Well where do I begin with this one. Firstly, I think this is one of the movies that I was thinking of something else when I gave it such lofty heights of 71%. It flopped at the box office when released in 2002 and making less than $19m when the budget costs were around the $40m mark. It was panned by the critics and was loathed by the public as well. It was a cheap shot at The Ring that was released in the same year and I am sure they were well aware that the copied version of the ring was being made elsewhere so they tried to compete with a story of their own.
They failed.
I am going to screw everything up by re-scoring this and dropping it to the other section and meaning I am going to have to go back and relabel every one of these again. So, before I go through that pain, I will explain this plot and not what a ring piece this is.
It’s got the tarty bit from the Truman Show loved Truman and he loved her back. Ok she isn’t a tarty bit but she is from the Truman Show she’s called Natascha McElhone and she stars alongside Stephen Dorff and Stephen Rea. Are you ready for this plot?
4 Deaths occur randomly across New York City and a gritty NYPD starts an investigation into these random murders. There is nothing to connect these bodies no connections at all. So, the cops seek further help and Terry (Natasha) turns to a forensic expert Denise to check out their PC’s. Guess what all four had their system crash when on a website www.feardotcom.com going through the history. All four were on the same site when the computer died and then within 48 hours, they were dead too. So being the cop that she is Denise goes to the website as well and it’s your typical snuff site and people getting tortured and dying. I say that knowing that I’ve never seen, know or even a smidgen bit intrigued by the activities on a snuff site thank you very much. But guess what within 48 hours she’s dead too.
So, the logical thing for the gritty and tarty bit cops to do is to go onto the website themselves and see what happens. What happens is they descend into madness created by the one of the worse spooky reason you could imagine and an obvious one as well. But there we go… How the hell I gave this a 71% initially I really don’t know I will now send it and the score tumbling down this list and please do not bother you good time with this one!
