Released in 2005 directed by Mike Newell and based on the books of J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter had become a phenomenon across the world, and this was a another piece in that puzzle. Made on a budget of $150m it went on to recoup $896.4m at the box office. In terms of gross reward from the box office this film is third in Harry Potter series behind the Deathly Hallows part one and two. It starred Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Robbie Coltrane, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Brendan Gleeson, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, and Timothy Spall. this was also well liked by the critics with IMDb giving it 7.7 out of 10 and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a score of 88%. this cemented the Harry Potter stories as huge successes at box office and book sale level. Shall we move on to the plot?

Harry and his friends are attending the quidditch World Cup and travel to the World Cup final via a boot that transports them to the final. They all have to hold the boot at the same time, and you are transported to the next location. The final if you are interested is between island and Bulgaria after the final death eaters terrorised the campsite and the dark mark is summonsed. Arriving at Hogwarts, Harry and his friends are introduced to and ex-Auror called “Mad Eye” Moody, Who appears to take Harry under his wing. This school year is an exciting one as there is a tournament cold the Tri-Wizard Cup. Which is only for senior members of Hogwarts to compete against representatives from two other schools. To be entered you have to put your name on a piece of paper into a flame protected by a security system based on age. Along with Cedric Diggory, Harry Potters name is announced as well, causing many of the school to believe he had cheated in some way to enter. Harry has no idea how his name was entered into this competition but the rules state that whichever names are drawn they have to compete. So being the first movie with Dragons the contestants have to catch a Golden egg being guarded buy a dragon as the first challenge of the tournament. the tournament and the mystery continue throughout the film until the very dark conclusion to this particular story, which I won't share here, sorry but the plot is done.

This is the movie that got me started on Harry Potter, I had not seen the movies before this and if I'm honest I didn't really see the movies offer this either. After seeing this at the cinema which was an enjoyable movie with no knowledge prior to this it was still enjoyable. Subsequently being dragged to Harry Potter world where the making of and behind the scenes items are on display and shown it made this even better and then got me to watch the earlier films and having a very excited daughter reading the books prompted me to read them as well so we could talk about the storeys that we were reading. Having a couple of books ahead start on me I finished the entire set before she finished the book that she was on. That is not saying she's a slow reader and it's definitely not because I'm a fast reader it's because they are also easy and good to read it's enjoyable and if you haven't read them go and read them. This movie got me started in the Harry Potter world so I reflect back fondly on this film even though I found it I think without the prior knowledge cheesy in terms of the whole Tri-Wizard tournament without the knowledge of what it was, to me it was just some tournament that they hold every year, clearly it wasn't it was a one off for this book and made the Storey bit better to be fair Cos I was expecting the same thing in every book I read every store that's all and it's not because it's better than that. This is a worthy entry into the Harry Potter story as it begins the dark downward story. it takes the darker route which is followed with all of the remaining films and stories. This is probably why I enjoyed it and got hooked as this is a good story and a clever story as well. the kids are still young enough in it to be child-like and the beginning of the loss of innocence as this film has the first death in it. It's a clever film and should be enjoyed and is on the borderline of acceptable to children as stated the story does descend from here.

Next up is for me another 80’s classic movie with so many errors and movie tricks you shouldn’t see appearing there on the screen for you to enjoy…
